Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications at the moment are open and may shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should satisfy the subsequent criteria:

• Be a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home which has a combined gross family income that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• People with disabilities qualify if their combined domestic income won't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and wish not submit any evidence of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the correct Identity nsfas login Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected within their South African ID.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
